Gold Coast Wintersun Carnival at Coolangatta

For all the enthusiasts of the classic rock and roll era the sunny Gold Coast is the place to be. During the long weekend in June like minded people from all over Australia gather for the Wintersun Carnival at the Gold Coast.

The Gold Coast precinct of Coolangatta is where thousands of people descend for a weekend of what can only be described as a dynamic display of colour, chrome and corsets. For one weekend a year the Coolangatta streets come alive with a display of endless energy and fierce competition.

This Gold Coast event is officially opened with a main parade introducing its spectators to a taste of what the weekend has in store. Featuring one of the biggest showcases of hot rod collections, passionately restored and maintained, these cars shine. Immaculately dressed from blackened tyres to gleaming chrome, with not a flame out of place, these cars are lowered and tuned to cruising perfection.

Interwoven around these spectacular machines is a colourful assortment of outfits arranged in complete perfection from the feet up with shiny shoes, bobby sox, full spinning skirts propelled into full flight competing for the spectator's attention. The guys are dressed immaculately, their outfits coordinating with their partners, constantly performing and parading them as proud as can be.
